SMOK ACRO KIT POD REVIEW

Smoktech is a well-renowned company in the vape industry. They thrive to constantly push the latest and coolest looking vape gadgets in the market to meet their customer demands.

Having a huge production does not always translate to good success. Some products from Smoktek do fall short to compensate for the innovation and creativity that was manufactured and in some products - well let’s just say it requires more R&D for improvements.

But their products do come together, in terms of form and functionality. It spells out great experiences, happy reviewers and fits its purpose amazingly. Often much better than what was expected.

Smok’s Acro Kit definitely checks all the boxes in terms of function, user experience and versatility. Overall a very well thought product which delivers its expectation really well.

GENERAL INFO

This new slick and slim Smok Acro Kit works pretty spectacular considering its lightweight size. Its bundle features adjustable wattage, OLED screen display, adjustable airflow with the use of USB Type-C - charging only takes 90 minutes to full. In short you are getting so much more for its size compared to their other product predecessors. Totally worth spending on when compared to the featured-set that is meant for bigger devices.

Although there are many other PODs that are available in the market, this is one of the PODs that you do not want to miss while browsing through.

SMOK’s Acro Kit will complete you and it is not just another POD. Arguably one of the best sticks out in the market.

BODY

Having this piece of device on your palm, it almost feel weightless as the POD is made of aluminium alloy. I really like the finishing design of the look, its plain, simple and direct approach covered by satin coating which looks pretty solid and durable. One word to describe it - “Stylish”. Nothing too outstanding in terms of branding, giving the overall clean look on the device.

With a considerably light and small size of 30.2 x 11.2 x 103mm, it is not the smallest available POD but the slim and slick design is very appealing for users. You could just handle it using your index finger and thumb without any problem and not to mention that it fits in your pocket, almost unnoticeably. This is unlike other PODs which are rather bulky in comparison.

Now, let’s examine the cartridge for the POD. This will be one of the many user concerns “Does it leak easily?” The POD recess is attached with 2 magnets which also serve as the POD connector. You will notice a raised rubber around the air inlet (red colour) which is the seal to refill e-liquid. The POD is well designed to fit this cartridge perfectly thus preventing any chances of leakage under the POD. A genuinely clever move by SMOK for its invention to enhance user experience.

Slightly right above the middle of the device, you will see the power button. It is strategically placed where your finger will land to easily fire when needed. The button click is also pretty responsive. Click three times rapidly to change between, autodraw or manual firing. Personally, I'll suggest the autodraw mode to avoid accidental presses while it is kept in your pocket.

AIRFLOW

Three airflow slots to adjust from the slider - best suit to your vape liking. This is definitely a game changer for me as it gives me flexibility to inhale MTL (mouth to lung) or DTL (direct to lung). Any POD that does not have this feature these days is definitely losing out in terms of user experience. Thumbs up for SMOK to include these features.

SCREEN DISPLAY & BUTTON

From the side, you will see the mini OLED screen display. The screen display shows your puff counter, wattage, battery lifespan and smartly enough, whenever you slot your cartridge in, it will tell you the ohm resistance that is used. Kind of similar to the previous SMOK Nfix or Nfix Mate where the screen colours are only black and white but displays sufficient info that is required. Right below the display is where there are two other buttons to adjust wattage, up or down, or click both simultaneously to keep it locked, avoiding changing the wattage by mistake.

And finally on the bottom, is the USB Type-C port.

CARTRIDGE

This is where your refill goes in for e-liquid, a pretty standard PCTG used of plastic made judging by the shape. You will immediately notice the wider opening of the mouthpiece which admittedly is quite comfortable to inhale and of course this will be the case since, ideally it is designed for MTL (mouth-to-lung) devices.

The downside to the slim design is that you will not be able to change the inside coil from the cartridge. It is built together and I personally do not mind not having this option since it is less hassle for me. However other vapor enthusiasts might find this disadvantageous based on their needs.

Refilling e-liquid in this cartridge can be a bit tricky. Yes, it is slim, but dripping down into it might require you to tilt the cartridge a little to avoid overflowing. This is also due to the coil located right in the middle. Getting to a maximum capacity of your liquid might require you to fill up the gap on both sides while tilting your cartridge several times. It is a bit of a hassle, but you will get the hang of it.

Two cartridges will be given in the package, both with 0.8Ω resistance. Recommended to fire between 12-15 Watts. Personally, I will hit 15w for fruity flavour and 18w for creamy flavor to get that kick. On average this single cartridge could last me two weeks of usage. Of course this is debatable since every consumption is subjectively different from every user.

Warning! Tips for beginners. Try not to place the tip of your lips right above the mouthpiece to avoid lip burn. Instead place your lip slightly over the mouthpiece to inhale.

Flavouring is pretty alright so far, nothing out of the ordinary. You will pretty much get all the essence of flavouring with every hit you take. Works pretty well so far for salt nic and HTPC flavour. Freebase on their other hand might taste muted due to the wattage capacity is only 25w with 0.6Ω resistance.

BATTERY

1000mAh battery lifespan. This could last me for a day or more without recharging. Given the size of the device, I cannot argue much about its battery capacity. Suffice to say, it's enough to keep me going.

90 minutes till fully charged as advertised on their official website. You will be able to still vape while charging since it's only running on 0.85A charging current. It is going to take a while, so you might want to get a few puffs while you're charging.

USAGE HANDLING

Operation wise is pretty much straight forward, nothing too complicated to handle. Adjustable wattage button (up and down) and lock wattage. Main power button to activate auto-draw or manual draw, which also serves as firing button.

  • Turn on/off : Press fire button x5 times
  • Switch between auto-draw OR dual fire mode : Press fire button x3 times.
  • Lock Wattage: Press Up/Down simultaneously.

Pros:

  • Slick slim size
  • Excellent quality build
  • User friendly
  • Really nice form factor
  • Informative screen display
  • USB Type-C charging
  • Adjustable wattage
  • Adjustable airflow
  • Auto draw and button fire options

Cons:

  • No fast charging
  • E-liquid refilling hassle
  • Non interchangeable ohm resistance

SUMMARY

SMOK’s Acro Kit has done great with this POD so far. Definitely checks out most of the requirements in vaping experience. Innovative designed thus far unlike anything else, the look itself will lure any buyers to make purchases. Pocket size, not just in your pants but can also fit in your T-shirt front pocket. Adjustable wattage to best suit your flavouring. Airflow, I cannot emphasise more on how this is such a fulfilling feature to have, especially given the size of this POD.

Although it is not really a perfect AIO (all in one) POD but it does deliver good flavouring with the optimisation features to compensate for it.

Refilling can be a hassle but nothing too serious. Hope SMOK can come up with fast charging instead - 90 minutes to fully charge is pretty long for a lot of users.

Overall, excellent choice for MTL users, slightly on the higher end as compared to other available similar POD’s due to its features. Highly recommended for MTL enthusiasts.
